Birmingham, Ala. – The Rhodes track and field teams ran at the seventh annual Emory CrossPlex Invitational in Birmingham, Ala. on Sunday.
A total of 31 schools had at least one student-athlete represented at the invite. The full list of schools can be found below.
Julia Bergquist and
Sara Kate Capel both jumped 1.55m in the high jump, placing eighth and ninth respectively. Bergquist made it over the bar on her first attempt while Capel successfully cleared the bar on her second attempt. Capel also set a new personal record in the shot put with a toss of 8.81m. Bergquist made her first collegiate pole vaulting appearance, jumping to 2.50m on her second attempt.
Marley Wisby ran a PR in the 400m dash, finishing 40 seconds ahead of her first race of the season. Fellow freshman
Maddie Chandler placed 11th in the long jump, recording jumps of 4.88m in her final two attempts. She also recorded a personal record triple jump mark of 10.33m to 13th place.
Aubrey McKittrick-Troop placed 12th, also jumping 4.88m in the long jump.
The women's team saw first-time collegiate races from
Alli Cundiff in the 60m dash, 60m hurdles, 200m dash and 4x400 relay. Cundiff placed 19th in the prelims of the 60m hurdles (9.79) and ran a 60m dash in 8.23 seconds. The Lynx relay team of Capel, St Cyr, Cundiff and Bergquist finished in 4:12.44.
For the distance and middle distance runners,
Maryella Cohn placed ninth in the mile, setting a new personal record time of 5:27.70. She also ran the 800m, where
Leda St Cyr placed 11th (2:23.80) out of 50 runners.
Abby Polzin led the Lynx with a 3k time of 12:04.18.
Rhodes will return to competition when they travel to Jonesboro, Ark. for the Arkansas State Invitational on Friday, January 25
th.
