Memphis - Rhodes College men's basketball had a slow start Wednesday night in their Southern Athletic Association opener at home against Hendrix College. Early fouls and turnovers allowed Hendrix to take a 42-25 halftime lead. The Lynx, despite scoring 35 second-half points, fell in the conference matchup 80-60.
During the game,
Mac James led Rhodes with 13 points going four-of-seven while
Owen Galvin picked up nine points and six defensive rebounds.
Ironically, Rhodes out-shot Hendrix in the second half by eight percent, as well as overall in the field (41.8%) compared to the visitor's 40.4%. Rhodes was called for 22 fouls, which Hendrix turned into 22 points on 26 free throw attempts. The Lynx meanwhile, converted eight of 14 attempts.
Rhodes will look ahead to road games this weekend. The Lynx travel to Kentucky to take on Centre College on Friday night at 8 p.m. ET, followed by Sewanee on Sunday, back in Tennessee at 3 p.m.
