Women's Swimming Takes Down Henderson State on Senior Day

Bartlett, Tenn. - Rhodes College women's swimming defeated Henderson State 114-91 on senior day Saturday. Prior to the meet, the Lynx honored outgoing seniors Carly Good, Allie Hill and Stephanie Royer (pictured) before the Lynx won their first meet of 2019, placing first in seven events 17 top-three finishes.

Hill, Emily Ulmer, Julia Cronk, and Madi Griffin got the afternoon started with a win in the 400 medley relay (4:04.80). In the next event, the 1000 freestyle, freshman Margaret Johnson swam a personal record to second place (11:12.02) as Elyse Jacobs placed third. The Lynx then took six of the top seven swims in the 200 freestyle. Griffin placed first while Lilli Metts took second, Rita Johnson fourth, followed by Aidan Donahue, Angie Harri and Kaitlin Gasner

In the 50 freestyle, Brittany Pierce placed second (25.98) before Good won the 400 IM (4:44.84) as Rhodes captured four of the top five times. Grace Tolan placed second in the same event, followed by Erin Osborne and Lauren Yenari who swam a personal best time of 5:02.68.

Hill then won the 200 butterfly as Tolan finished just three seconds behind for second place. Griffin won the 100 freestyle (53.86), her third victory of the day while freshman Saylor Tettleton swam a personal best by three seconds. Hill then won her third event (200 backstroke) before Metts won the 500 freestyle. The Lynx also placed third and fourth in the event with Margaret and Rita Johnson closing the event in their respective places. 

Rhodes took four of the top six times in the 200 breaststroke with Good leading the Lynx to second place (2:32.93). Wrapping up the meet, Rhodes' 400 freestyle relay of Mary Beth Baker, Pierce, Jacobs and M. Johnson placed second in 3:53.64. 

The Lynx women swam to three personal bests and five season bests against Henderson State. Rhodes will next head to Sewanee on Jan. 19th, scheduled for 1 p.m.
