Memphis - Rhodes College volleyball went 1-1 each day of their 2018 Invitational. On Sunday, the Lynx swept Rust College, only allowing the Bearcats to secure eight points in the first and third sets.
After watching their next opponent get swept by Sewanee, the Lynx took set one from Huntingdon 25-15 in their final match of the weekend. The Hawks edged Rhodes in the next two sets 26-24 and 28-26 before the Lynx again dominated the fourth set with a 25-15 win. During the tie-breaker, Huntingdon led 3-1 before a 7-2 run gave the Lynx an 8-5 advantage, their largest lead of the set. Huntingdon would score four points in a row and eventually take the game on a 15-12 fifth set victory.
On the day,
Morgan Hill hit .436 which included 14 kills against the Hawks. Her presence at the net was also felt on defense with nine total blocks including six in the final match. Freshman
Drew Kalman tallied a total of five blocks against Huntingdon, which included two solo blocks. Mary Francis Daniel finished the day with a Lynx-leading 34 digs.
Rhodes is on the road this weekend at the Maryville College Invitational. The Lynx will begin with a 12 p.m. ET game in Maryville, Tenn. against Lynchburg.
