Volleyball defeats Millsaps on the road 3-1

Jackson, Miss. - Rhodes College volleyball ended a two-game drought to win their first conference game of the year Sunday with a 3-1 victory over Millsaps College. The Lynx overtook the Majors 25-17, 22-25, 27-25 and 25-18. 

Rhodes hit .333 with a team-high 13 kills during the first set. Tied 6-all, Rhodes scored four straight points before Millsaps reversed rolls and tied the game 10-all. Both teams found themselves tied 14-14 until the Lynx led 17-16. Rhodes then went on a hot streak and scored seven straight points (24-16) to open the game. 

During the second set Millsaps broke out to a 10-3 lead and held on for the win despite the Lynx tying the game 21-all. There were 13 ties during the third set. Rhodes went down 23-24 during when a Millsaps ball-handling error extended play. The Lynx went up 25-24 on a Major attack error but the game was tied once again after a Millsaps kill. Rhodes earned the final two points to go up 2-1 in the match on two more attack errors by the home team. 

Rhodes opened the fourth set with a 7-1 advantage and later led 18-11 on their way to ousting the Majors. 

During the game, sophomore Kelsey Glasper put up double-double figures for the Lynx with 11 kills and 15 digs. Fellow sophomore Mary Frances Daniel recorded the 19 digs, the highest of the game. Defensively at the net, Rhodes earned 24 blocks assists and a solo block by freshman Drew Kalman. Kalman had a hand in nine block assists while Heather Antrim had a hand in eight block assists.

Rhodes will be on the road again next weekend, traveling to Centre College on Saturday for a 2 p.m. ET game, followed by a 2 p.m. CT game at Sewanee on Sunday.
