Memphis - Rhodes men's lacrosse defeated Hendrix College 22-6 on senior day and are now 8-2 on the year and 4-0 in conference play. Hendrix drops to 7-5 and 1-3 in SAA play.
Rhodes honored their five seniors in
Ryan Fennelly,
Justin Powers,
Tommy Reingruber,
John Snyder and
Steven Yowan at midfield with their families right before the game. The five Lynx were members of the third recruiting class for the program and have helped put Rhodes on the map as a Southern destination for men's lacrosse players.
Tyler Milwit got the scoring starting three minutes into the game. That goal sparked a 12-goal run for Rhodes. Hendrix scored two goals in the second period in the last three minutes of the game and then scored two consecutive goals in the third period. Rhodes' largest lead of the game was the final score of the game, a 16-point advantage.
Powers led the Lynx with four goals while Fennelly and
John Tooher both tallied two goals and three assists for a game-high five points.
Matt Perez recorded three goals and one assist as Milwit finished with three goals as well.
In goal,
Cameron Link made 11 saves to earn his sixth win of the year. On the face-off,
J.J. Hoots and Elliott Gorski dominated the Warriors, combining for 20-25. Hoots went 11-12 and grabbed seven ground balls while Gorski recorded six.
Rhodes will rest up for a big weekend. The Lynx have to travel to Sewanee on Friday, April 6 to play the only other team with an undefeated conference record. After that, Rhodes will make the trek to Danville, Ky. to close out conference play at Centre College on Sunday.
