Lynx fall short against No. 9-Denison Friday afternoon

Charlotte, N.C. - Rhodes College men's lacrosse met up with No. 9- ranked Denison University on the campus of Queens University of Charlotte Friday afternoon. Ultimately the Big Red came up with a 12-8 victory to hand Rhodes their second loss of the season, but not before the Lynx put up a fight. 

Rhodes trailed 7-2 at halftime, but posted five goals in the third period while Denison netted just two to pull within two goals headed into the final frame. Each team scored a goal to begin the fourth period with Dension leading 10-8 with 9:39 left in the game. The Big Red finished the game by netting two more goals in the final five minutes of action. 

Lynx goalie Cameron Link posted a season-high 16 saves in the game, 11 of which came in the second period alone. 

Rhodes suffered four minutes and 30 seconds of infractions on seven penalties as Denison scored three goals in man-up situations. The Big Red also won 17 of 24 faceoffs and held a 47-33 shot advantage over the Lynx.

Henry Hasbrouck tallied three caused turnovers to lead the Lynx defensemen while Link tallied four ground balls. Offensively, Tyler Milwit, Ryan Fennelly, Matt Perez, and Justin Powers all recorded two goals. Fennelly, Perez, Steven Yowan and Ryan Marasco all notched one assist while John Tooher assisted twice.

Rhodes will return to conference action on Sunday at Birmingham-Southern for a 1 p.m. contest.
