Memphis - In their sixth straight home game, Rhodes College men's lacrosse downed Oglethorpe University 28-4 to improve to 6-1 on the year and 2-0 in conference.
The Lynx held an 11-0 lead after the first period, after which almost all normal starters were removed from the game. Seven Lynx scored two or more goals, led by
Patrick Warren with four goals followed by
Julian Paulay,
Adrian Mann,
John Tooher and
Will Cordes who tallied three goals each.
Duke Kriksceonaitis added a goal and three assists while Warren and Tooher each also added an assist.
Six Rhodes players picked up their first collegiate goals including Warren, Kriksceonaitis,
John Carter Hawkins,
Isaiah Pratt and
Adrian Mann while
David Jones scored his first goal of the season.
The Lynx went 12-13 in clears, won all but 10 faceoffs on 34 attempts and scored on five of their six man-up situations.
Brendan Roberts picked up the win. He,
John Mondi and
Stephen Miller all averaged roughly 20 minutes in cage with Mondi picking up the lone save.
The Lynx will travel for their next game, which is a neutral-site matchup against Denison University. The game location and time has recently changed and will now be played at Queens University of Charlotte, in Charlotte, N.C. at 12 p.m. ET on Friday, March 23. Rhodes will then travel to Birmingham to finish the weekend at BSC on Sunday at 1 p.m.
