Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball splits Oglethorpe doubleheader

Memphis - After not playing a game at Stauffer Field since February 16th due to rain, road games and spring break, Rhodes baseball defeated Oglethorpe University 5-4 in game one before falling 3-2 in the latter contest. The Lynx are now 12-10 on the year and 5-3 in conference play.

Tied 1-1, the Lynx earned four runs after their fifth-inning fist pump song to take a 5-1 lead before the Stormy Petrels posted three runs in the top of the eighth to finish scoring. Trey Sledge picked up his fourth win of the season after striking out eight batters across seven innings. Nick Bosma, who started out in right field, earned his sixth save after coming in the game with a 5-3 lead. Will Heurtin went three-of-four in the game while five different Lynx crossed the plate and four different Lynx earned RBI's.

The second game was much quieter for Rhodes who tallied four hits in the game. Jack Mercer suffered the loss, despite striking out nine batters over 6.1 innings.

The two SAA competitors will finish the weekend series Sunday at Rhodes at noon.
