Atlanta, Ga. - Rhodes women's basketball handed Oglethorpe their second conference loss of the season and snapped their eight-game win streak Sunday afternoon. The Lynx trailed 32-26 at halftime, but a second-half surge by Rhodes ended both the Lynx' three-game losing streak as well as Oglethorpe's win streak.
Rhodes focused on their inside game to take down the Stormy Petrels, taking just six three-point attempts. In the third quarter, Oglethorpe went cold, connecting just one field goal (a three-pointer) on 15 attempts. They also netted only two field goals in the fourth quarter as nine of their 18 second half points came on free throws. Meanwhile, 10 of Rhodes' 22 fourth quarter points were from the charity stripe.
Alyssa Owens led the Lynx with 16 points with
Allie Young netting 12 points. Freshman
Maya Longacre led the team with 11 rebounds and a team-high nine on the defensive end. She narrowly missed a double double with nine points. Fellow freshman
Lindsey Whiteside tallied eight defensive rebounds
The Lynx close out regular season play with four games at home, starting with Millsaps on Friday, Feb. 9th at 6 p.m.
