Memphis - Rhodes College women's basketball defeated Hendrix for the second time this season after scoring 25 points to the Warriors' 11 in the final quarter. Eleven of those points for the Lynx came from junior
Allie Young. Both teams are 17-8 overall and both went 9-5 in conference play this year.
It was a fast-paced first quarter followed by an extremely slow-scoring second quarter where both teams only posted nine points. Hendrix held a two-point lead at halftime and a four-point lead headed into the fourth quarter.
Rhodes made seven of their 11 field goal attempts and only attempted two three pointers. They opened the final frame with nine unanswered points and never relinquished the lead, gaining a 12-point lead.
Maya Longacre had a big block in the fourth quarter while also pulling in a total of seven rebounds. Young finished with 23 points, eight rebounds, a block and three assists.
Jessie Ustick tallied 12 points and added six rebounds.
After the game, fans honored Ustick and fellow senior
Erin Deery had halftime of the men's game. The duo are multi-sport SAA Champions and have plans to continue their education after graduation.
Rhodes, the No. 2-seed in the SAA Tournament, will take on the No. 7-seed, Sewanee, in the opening round, hosted by Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Ga. this Friday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. ET.
