Memphis - It seemed as though both teams traded the same amount of runs through the first five innings until the Lynx were able to score once in each the sixth and seventh innings to overcome Greenville University 8-6. The win elevates Rhodes to 5-4 while Greenville is now 0-1.
The Panthers struck first with two runs in the first off three hits and an error but the Lynx answered with two in the second.
Nick Bosma had a leadoff single, followed by a
Jacob Telli Walk and a
Ryan Palermo double.
Jon Michael Lauck then recorded an RBI groundout to tie the game.
A walk in the third came back to haunt the Lynx after the Panther scored on a single to take a brief lead. Bosma singled once again and scored
Zac Lange who led off with a double down the left field line.
After a quieter fourth inning, Greenville scored three in the fifth from four hits including a double, but the Lynx also secured four hits and three runs.
Rhodes held the Panthers scoreless for the remainder of the game. With two outs in the sixth inning, Telli was hit by a pitch and then stole second base. He would score the game-winning run from a Palermo single to center field. The Lynx added an insurance run in the seventh, bringing
Zac Lange across the plate after
Levi Greenberg also singled to center.
Bosma came in from first base to finish the final two innings for Rhodes on the mound, striking out two of his first three batters. Telli threw out Greenville trying to steal for the second out of the inning.
Palermo finished going three-of-five with four RBI. Lange earned a hit in all three at-bats, walked twice and scored twice.
