Memphis - Rhodes College women's basketball fell to Emory University 60-49 Saturday afternoon, as the Lynx suffered their fourth loss in a row. Rhodes, who is now 6-4 on the season, turns to face Agnes Scott to close our the first half of the season tomorrow at home at 2 p.m.
A close first quarter had Emory up 14-13, but senior Lynx
Allie Young was charged with two fouls, limiting her time on the court in the first half to just over three minutes. It was a dry second half, with both teams combining to score only 15 points. Emory led 22-20 at halftime.Â
The Eagles opened the second half with a 16-1 run to break open the game (38-21) after six minutes. With 1:31 left in the game, Rhodes pulled withing six points after
Alyssa Owens scored inside the paint, but with time running out, the Lynx were forced to foul and wouldn't get any closer to the Eagles.Â
Three Lynx scored double-digits in the loss, led by Owens with 13 while Young and
Moriah Muhammad netted 11 points going five-of-eight. Sophomore
Caroline Taylor scored both of her three-point attempts while Owens missed one of her three shots from long range. Owens also led the Lynx in rebounding, tallying seven defensive boards while sophomore
Maya Longacre tallied six rebounds.Â
Emory's Ashley Oldshue recorded the game-high 28 points, nine rebounds and six blocks in the game while Lindsey Tse recorded seven assists.Â
In the game, Rhodes shot 31% in the field and 60% from the line.Â
