Memphis - Rhodes College men's soccer walked away victorious on senior day after downing Sewanee 1-0 Sunday afternoon. The win moves the Lynx into sole custody of third place in the Southern Athletic Association standings, with a 3-1 conference record as the Lynx improve to 7-3 on the year.
In a heated and aggressive battle, which saw three yellow cards from each team as well as a red card from Sewanee, sophomore
Ben Tang scored the game-winning goal in the 44th minute for the Lynx. Rhodes received a free kick from near Sewanee's bench, which senior
Austin Ly served towards to the far right post. The ball bounced off a Sewanee defender, allowing Tang to head the ball into the back of the net, scoring his first career goal.
Sewanee played down a man for the final 34 minutes of the game due to the red card. During the game, senior goalkeeper
Patrick Wilkerson made six saves to secure the shutout for the Lynx. Rhodes edged Sewanee with one more shot in the game while the Tigers held a 7-4 corner kick advantage.
The Lynx travel to Berry and Oglethorpe this weekend before returning to Memphis on Oct. 17th for a non-conference matchup against Christian Brothers University.
