Memphis - Rhodes College junior
Hailey Mules had a hand in five of Rhodes seven goals in their 7-1 victory over Hendrix Saturday afternoon. The win solidified Rhodes with the second seed in the Southern Athletic Association Tournament, to be held at Hendrix College next weekend. The Lynx are now 10-3 on the year as they went 4-1 in conference.
Mules needed one assist, four goals and seven points to break Rhodes' single season records. She came away with two goals and three assists to now own the single season assist record (14) as well as the single season points record (50).
Mules scored the first goal of the game after just over a minute of play. She then assisted freshman
Hannah Luckes for the game-winner five minutes later to break her first record. Hendrix cut Rhodes' lead in half with a goal nine minutes later after roping in their own rebound.
Lydia Slyter served up
Jillian Christensen on a corner to score one more goal for Rhodes before the half. The Lynx then secured four more goals the put away their 10th victory. Mules' final assist was her record-breaking point as she sent in a corner to Christensen who fired the ball into the left corner of the boards.
Christensen finished the game with two goals and one assist while fellow senior
Lizzie Wood tallied two goals.
With six teams in the SAA now, Centre and Rhodes will receive byes in the first round of the conference tournament. The Lynx will play the winner of No. 3-seeded Sewanee/No. 6-seeded Transylvania on Saturday, Nov. 3rd in Conway, Ark.
