Field Hockey advances to SAA Tournament Championship after 12-0 win over Transy

Conway, Ark. - Rhodes' offense exploded to a 12-0 victory over Transylvania in the semifinals of the Southern Athletic Association Tournament on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The win propels the Lynx to their seventh straight SAA Tournament Championship game, and again, Rhodes will face Centre, who won the regular season title with a 5-0 conference record. Rhodes (11-3) and Centre (12-3) are the only two teams to ever advance to the championship game in field hockey.

Senior Jillian Christensen assisted Hannah Luckes for the game-winning goal just 1:37 into the game. Rhodes led 3-0 before junior Hailey Mules closed out the first half by securing her 19th and 20th goals of the season to break Rhodes' single season goal record. She then opened the second half with two more goals before finishing the game with six goals. She is now the SAA and Rhodes record holder in single season points (62) and goals (24). Mules, who has 14 assists, is just one assist away from tying the conference single season assist record.

Defender Victoria Palazzetti secured two assists while Sam Robe scored the final goal of the game on freshman Sabrina Simpson's first career assist. Also recording their first collegiate assist was Ashley Neiswender who sent the ball to Mules for her final goal of the afternoon. Senior Lizzie Wood and junior Lydia Slyter both recorded two goals. Luckes added an assist for the Lynx as did Wood and defender Meghan Harmon.

With their 12th goal Saturday, the Lynx tie the second highest mark in program history for goals scored in a season (70).

Sunday's SAA Championship game will take place at noon on the campus of Hendrix College in Conway, Ark.
