Conway, Ark. - Rhodes College men's soccer has earned the No. 2-seed in the 2018 Southern Athletic Association Tournament next weekend, after defeating Hendrix 4-0 Saturday night. Rhodes will open the SAA Tournament on October 27 when they host No. 7-seeded Millsaps at 2 p.m.
Freshman
Travis Tuerff scored the first two goals of the game within four minutes of each other to lift the Lynx to five conference wins on the season. All four of Rhodes' goals came in the second half.
Evan McMann scored for the Lynx a little over seven minutes after Tuerff's final goal, but the Lynx weren't finished. With 15 seconds left in the game, time was stopped to dish out a yellow card to Hendrix, giving Rhodes a final scoring opportunity. Senior defender
Joel Sabio took the free kick 10 yards outside the box. Set up in the middle of the field, Sabio scored his first career goal to end the regular season for the Lynx.Â
Rhodes, who went 5-2 in conference, picks up their best SAA regular season finish. The last time the Lynx finished second in regular season conference play was in 2003 when Rhodes was a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Lynx will enter the postseason with a 9-4 record, the most wins for the program since 2008.
