Memphis - Rhodes College men's soccer hosted Oglethorpe University Saturday afternoon in the first round of the Southern Athletic Association Tournament. The Lynx suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to the Stormy Petrels to end their season at home.
Despite dominating the offensive push in the first half, Rhodes fell behind 1-0 in the 25th minute. Oglethorpe sent the ball up the field where Luca Kistner ran the ball down, getting past a Rhodes defender before evading senior goalkeeper
Patrick Wilkerson at the top of the box. Kistner had kicked the ball towards the right endline and scored after chasing it down and slipping it over the goal line past multiple sliding Lynx.
Rhodes held Oglethorpe to just three shots in the loss while producing 18 shots themselves. Stormy Petrel goalkeeper Alfie Miller made 10 saves to keep Oglethorpe's season alive.
Rhodes, who graduates eight Lynx, end their season 9-5, totaling the most wins since 2008.
On Monday, November 5, the SAA announced post-season honors with Rhodes men's soccer bringing home three all-conference selections:
