Seniors score twice in shutout over CUW on senior day

Memphis, Tenn. - Rhodes College field hockey hosted Concordia Wisconsin on Homecoming, the final home game of Jillian Christensen and Lizzie Wood's careers. The duo were honored prior to the game in which each senior scored twice in their 9-0 shutout.

Defender Meghan Harmon hit in the game-winner, receiving the ball from junior Hailey Mules on a penalty corner just four minutes into the game. The Lynx would roll to a 4-0 halftime lead, which included Wood finishing the first half with two goals, both assisted by Mules. Mules' final assist of the half tied Rhodes single-season assist record.

In the second half, the Lynx continued their offensive press, scoring twice before Christensen scored back-to-back goals within one minute and 30 seconds.

The Lynx defense held CUW to six shots in the game, including just one in the first half while Rhodes totaled 27 in the game. The Lynx also held a 21-6 corner advantage. Nina Migneco made two saves in goal for Rhodes with defender Daryl Perry notching a defensive save. The Falcons totaled 13 saves including 12 by goalie Katelyn Fitzgerald.

Rhodes will finish the regular season at Hendrix next weekend, which is also where the 2018 Southern Athletic Association Tournament will be held Nov. 2-4.
