Memphis - Oglethorpe defeated Rhodes 108-87 Sunday, holding the Lynx to the lowest points they've ever scored under their new style of play. Oglethorpe is now 9-5 on the year and 3-0 in SAA play. The Lynx return to .500 at 7-7 and are now 1-2 in conference.
Rhodes trailed by three points at halftime and after Will Perry and
Will McIntyre exchange three pointers, Oglethorpe broke out to an 18-2 run. The Stormy Petrels led by 21 points with 3:45 to play and eventually secured a 24-point lead. Rhodes was out-scored 53-35 in the second half.
All 14 of
Andrew Evans' team-leading points came on three-pointers. The freshman also tallied three steals. McIntyre finished with a team-high four steals after recording three early on in the first half.
Bryce Berry netted 10 points while
Vaughn Samson brought in six rebounds.
The SAA scoring leader, Perry, recorded 30 points on 11 field goals and seven free throws. The tall forward, Tom Inungu, recorded a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Rhodes will be on the road this weekend at Millsaps on Friday night and Birmingham Southern on Sunday. The Lynx return to Memphis when they host Sewanee January 19th at 8 p.m.
