Sewanee - A week after overpowering Sewanee in the fourth quarter to win at home, Rhodes women's basketball fell victim to the Tigers on the road.
Sewanee's 19-9 second-quarter advantage as well as their 10 three-pointers on 30.3% shooting helped seal their victory. Rhodes made just two of 19 long-ball attempts. The Lynx trailed by only two points with 6:05 to play but a Tiger three-pointer coupled with several free throws gave them just enough breathing room to extend to a 10-point lead within in the final minute.
For Rhodes,
Alyssa Owens barely missed a double-double. She secured 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Senior guard
Erin Deery had six defensive rebounds and four assists to go with her seven points. Fellow senior
Jessie Ustick rounded out double-digit scoring with 10 points.
The Lynx, who are now 12-6 overall and 5-3 in the SAA, are in third place in the conference standings. They will face off at Centre on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
