Conway, Ark. - Rhodes men's basketball suffered a 112-103 loss to Hendrix College in their conference-opener. The Lynx are now 6-6 on the season while Hendrix is now 3-9.
Rhodes led 17-11 before Hendrix went on a 9-2 run to lead 20-19. Rhodes'
Will McIntyre helped the Lynx regain the lead before the second media timeout on a long-ball at the top of the arc. Play would continue back and forth until Hendrix took a 54-52 edge at halftime.
Tied 85-85, Hendrix went on a 15-4 run to lead 100-89, allowing a just enough of a cushion for the Warriors to take the victory.
In the game,
Bryce Berry led Rhodes with 26 points going 9-of-14 overall. He drained all four of his three-point attempts and mid-second-half was 8-of-11 in the field.
Also scoring double digits were
Anesu Nyawata with 17 points, five rebounds and four assists. He netted three treys on six attempts.
Vaughn Samson netted 15 points and
Preston Giroux 14 points.
Rhodes' scoring suffered in the second half from long range. After going 8-of-16 in the first half, the Lynx made five of their 16 second-half attempts. Ultimately the Warriors' 64.2% accuracy to Rhodes' 44.7% secured the win.
The Lynx will next host Berry on Friday at 8 p.m. and Oglethorpe on Sunday at 3 p.m.
