Lynx score 20+ in first and third quarters to bypass Millsaps 72-59

Jackson, Miss. - After pushing the game back an hour and a half due to wintry weather conditions around Memphis, Rhodes women's basketball picked up a 72-59 road victory at Millsaps College Friday night. The Lynx are now 10-4 on the year, are 3-1 in SAA play and have won five of their last six games.

Rhodes posted a 10-point advantage after the first quarter, and after a 35-28 halftime lead, went up by another nine points by the end of the third quarter, pushing them to victory.

Freshman Lindsey Whiteside nailed all three long-range attempts as she led the Lynx with 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Senior Jessie Ustick posted her first double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Junior forward Allie Young narrowly missed a double-double herself, after pulling down nine rebounds and putting up 12 points. Senior Erin Deery contributed seven rebounds and five steals for Rhodes while Alyssa Owens netted 14 points and added four rebounds and four assists to her totals. Freshman Maya Longacre rounded out double-digit scoring for the Lynx while adding two blocks. She posted 14 points, going six-of-nine on the night.
