Jackson, Miss. - After pushing the game back an hour and a half due to wintry weather conditions around Memphis, Rhodes women's basketball picked up a 72-59 road victory at Millsaps College Friday night. The Lynx are now 10-4 on the year, are 3-1 in SAA play and have won five of their last six games.
Rhodes posted a 10-point advantage after the first quarter, and after a 35-28 halftime lead, went up by another nine points by the end of the third quarter, pushing them to victory.Â
Freshman
Lindsey Whiteside nailed all three long-range attempts as she led the Lynx with 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Senior
Jessie Ustick posted her first double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Junior forward
Allie Young narrowly missed a double-double herself, after pulling down nine rebounds and putting up 12 points. Senior
Erin Deery contributed seven rebounds and five steals for Rhodes while
Alyssa Owens netted 14 points and added four rebounds and four assists to her totals. Freshman
Maya Longacre rounded out double-digit scoring for the Lynx while adding two blocks. She posted 14 points, going six-of-nine on the night.Â
In the game, Rhodes held the advantage in each shooting category as well as rebounds. The Lynx held their largest lead (19 points) near the end of the third quarter.Â
Rhodes will next travel to Birmingham Southern on Sunday for a 1 p.m. conference matchup. Tonight the Panthers fell to Hendrix in double overtime 83-72.
