Memphis - After a slow start, in more ways than one, Rhodes College field hockey took down Belmont Abbey as the heat sweltered over the turf. Saturday's game during Parents and Family Weekend started roughly 30 minutes late as downtown traffic hindered the Crusaders' arrival.
Rhodes only scored two of their goals in the first half, but a second-half surge of five goals added plenty of security as the Lynx took to .500 on the year. Senior
Mackenzie Busby scored a hat trick
on the day. She now has six goals on the year out of 12 shots on goal.
Nina Migneco got the start for the Lynx, recording her first shutout of the year after saving four Crusader shots.
The Lynx open Southern Athletic Association play on Sunday when they host Concordia University of Wisconsin at noon.
