MEMPHIS - For the second week in a row, the Rhodes College men's tennis team knocked off last season's SAA Regular Season Champions, defeating Oglethorpe in an impressive 7-2 win on Saturday morning.
The Lynx set the tone of the match in doubles competition, coming out red hot. The team of sophomore
Sean Hogan and freshman
Andrew Morton earned an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles while senior
Albert Vacheron and
Daniel Olivier clinched the point with an 8-6 win at No. 1 singles.
The No. 3 team of freshmen
P.J. Shaw and
Ritwik Chatterjee completed the sweep and gave Rhodes a 3-0 lead going into singles as they were also victorious 8-6.
In singles action, Chatterjee continues his dominant rookie campaign in singles action, winning at No. 2 singles by the score of 6-2. 6-2. Shaw clinched the match at No. 5 singles with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 5.
Vacheron picked up a victory at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-4, while Hogan won a 3-set thriller at No. 4, 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 as Rhodes finished the match with an impressive 7-2 victory.
Rhodes moves to 14-4 overall and 3-1 in the SAA. The Lynx will close their home season on Sunday as they welcome in the Berry Vikings at 9 AM.
