LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The No. 3 Rhodes College men's tennis team moved into the SAA Semifinals as they prepare for a rematch with No. 2 Millsaps after defeating the sixth-ranked Berry Vikings, 5-1, on Friday morning.
Rhodes opened the match with a strong showing in doubles, taking two out of three. Sophomore
Sean Hogan and freshman
Andrew Morton were victorious at No. 2 doubles, 8-4, while freshmen
P.J. Shaw and
Phil Lauture picked up an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles.
Leading 2-1 going into singles, Rhodes dominated to close the match out and move into tomorrow's semifinal. Senior
Albert Vacheron got a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 while freshman
Ritwik Chatterjee moved to 21-1 in singles with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2.
Despite Morton and Hogan moving to a third set in their respective courts, it was Lauture who clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles.
The Lynx play the Majors for the second time this season tomorrow at 9 AM. Millsaps gave Rhodes one of their two conference losses earlier this season in Memphis as the Lynx look to punch their ticket into the SAA Title Game.
