Late Rally Stuns Lynx Baseball in Midweek Non-Conference Contest

MEMPHIS - A rally in the 6th, 8th, and 9th innings by Christian Brothers erased a 4-0 Rhodes College baseball lead and gave the Lynx a tough loss to their neighbors by the score of 6-4 on Wednesday afternoon at Stauffer Field.

The Lynx offense was rolling in the first two innings, scoring four to take the early lead. Sophomore Jacob Telli ripped a two RBI double to deep center for the early lead while senior Bill Munson made it a 4-0 game with a two RBI single in the second.

Rhodes pitched by committee throughout the game as freshman Carter King got the start, pitching a solid two innings while the combination of senior Jackson Lourie, freshman Nathan Mirochnick, and junior Nick Ferngren held the Bucs scoreless through five complete.

CBU got two back in the sixth, but freshman Tom Coggins held them at bay in the seventh to keep the two run lead. However, CBU responded with a run in the eighth to cut it to one and three runs in the ninth to take a 6-4 lead.

Munson finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored while Telli was 2-for-4 with a two RBI, a double, and a triple. Sophomore Nick Bosma added a double while junior Levi Greenberg was 1-for-1 with a single. Freshman Paul Giacomazzi and junior Zach Liebenson each had a hit.

King and Ferngren each had two strikeouts in their outings while Lourie, Mirochnick, and Coggins all had perfect innings.

Rhodes falls to 17-16 overall and will readjust focus to conference play as they head to Conway, Ark. for a 3-game series against Hendrix. They open things up on Friday with a 6 PM first pitch.
