WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Rhodes College baseball team got back to their winning ways on Thursday afternoon as junior
Jack Mercer and senior
Jackson Lourie combined to shut out the Bridgewater Eagles, 2-0.
The Lynx got on the board first in the third inning as sophomore
Nick Bosma drove in a run on a squeeze play for the early 1-0 lead. Later in the sixth inning, sophomore
Jacob Telli drove in a run on a solo shot to make it 2-0.
It was all Mercer would need, pitching seven complete and striking out seven while not allowing only six hits as he moved to 2-2 overall. Lourie pitched the final two innings, allowing no hits and striking out two batters for his second save of the season.
Telli finished 3-for-5 with a RBI and run scored while sophomore
Jordan Baker went 2-for-3 with a walk. Sophomore
Brady John had a hit and a run scored while senior
Bennett Notestine, senior
Ryan Olive, and junior
Levi Greenberg all had a hit. Bosma had a hit and two stolen bases on the day.
Rhodes moves to 8-8 overall and will conclude their spring break trip tomorrow as they take on Keystone and Heidelberg in a doubleheader beginning at 12 PM ET.
