Lynx Women's Lax Keeps Rolling with Dominant Win Over Morrisville State

MEMPHIS - The Rhodes College women's lacrosse team moved to a perfect 10-0 in 2017 with as they blew past the Morrisville State Mustangs to the tune of 22-5 on Tuesday afternoon at Mason Field.

The Lynx out shot the Mustangs 41-13 and forced 23 turnovers on the afternoon. They picked up 32 ground balls and won 21 of 29 draw controls. Rhodes also head MSC to 8 of 19 in clear attempts.

Rhodes completely dominated the first 15 minutes, racing out to a 10-0 lead behind three goals from juniors Kendall Cunningham and Olivia Holmes. The two teams were even in the final 15 minutes, each scoring three a piece as the Lynx took a 13-3 lead at the break.

From there, Rhodes turned up the pressure and scored the half's first five goals as they left no doubt, finishing the game with a 22-5 win.

Cunningham finished with eight points on seven goals and an assist while Rippeto had six points on five goals and an assist. Junior Ashley Doyle had five points with three goals and two assists while Holmes had four with three goals and an assist. Senior Lindsay Gess had three points with a goal and two assists.

Sophomore Annika Helund, senior Ashley Dill, and junior Erin Gleeson all added a goal while freshman Kaeley Bennet had an assist.

Bennet and junior Rachel Windmueller each had five ground balls while Doyle added four and senior Emily Teague and Gess each had three. Gess also caused three turnovers while Bennet, Rippeto, Gleeson, and Dill each caused two. Doyle had eight draw controls while Windmueller had four.

Junior Katherine Tooley finished the game with four saves in goal.

Rhodes will take a day off before returning to the field on Thursday afternoon at 2 PM as they welcome Aurora.
