MEMPHIS - Five different Lynx pitchers held the visiting Huntingdon Hawks to only one run on seven hits as the Rhodes College baseball team won their third straight game, defeating the Hawks 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Stauffer Field.
Redshirt freshman
Trey Sledge earned his first career win, throwing five complete and allowing only two hits to go with a pair of strikeouts while the combination of sophomore
Cameron Tinker, junior
Nick Ferngren, junior
Will Vance, and senior
Jackson Lourie combined to pitch the final four innings for the win.
Ferngren and Vance each struck out two batters in a inning of work while Lourie picked up his fourth save of the season.
Rhodes took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third thanks to some clutch two out hitting as sophomore
Nick Bosma drove home the first run of the game on a RBI single. Sophomore
Jacob Telli was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring another run home for the two run lead.
The Lynx pushed the lead to 3-0 as Bosma drove home another run on his second RBI single of the day. After Huntingdon added one in the sixth, freshman
Paul Giacomazzi made it a 4-1 game with a RBI single to center.
Rhodes pitching was in control all game long and put down the Hawks all afternoon fo the win.
Offensively, Bosma finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs while Giacomazzi was 1-for-4 with a RBI and run scored. Senior
Bennett Notestine finished 1-for-4 with a double and run scored while senior
Zac Lange went 1-for-1 with a run scored. Senior
Ryan Olive also scored a run on the afternoon while sophomore
Chris Winter drew three walks.
Rhodes moves back to .500 at 11-11 and will prepare for conference play this weekend as they welcome in the Berry Vikings for a three game series. First pitch is on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 12 PM.
