MEMPHIS - The Rhodes College women's lacrosse team moved to 7-0 on the season as they scored 20 unanswered goals in a dominant 23-2 performance over the Hanover Panthers on Monday afternoon at Mason Field.
The Lynx out shot the Panthers, 42-11, and forced 30 total turnovers. The Lynx picked up 51 ground balls and won 12 draw controls.
After Rhodes took a 2-0 lead behind goals from juniors
Kendall Cunningham and
Erin Gleeson, Hanover responded with their first goal of the game. Cunningham scored again before another Panther goal made it 3-2.
From there, it was all Lynx as Cunningham scored six goals in the first half alone as Rhodes closed the half with 12 straight goals to take a 15-2 lead at the break.
Rhodes kept things rolling in the second half, emptying most of their bench and pulling away and holding Hanover scoreless throughout the second half en rout to the dominant 23-2 victory.
Cunningham finished with six goals, two assists, five ground balls, and a caused turnover while junior
Olivia Holmes added three goals and an assist to go with three ground balls.
Junior
Maggie Rippeto finished with two goals and four assists as well as five ground balls while Gleeson and sophomore
Taylor Ansel each scored a pair of goals. Sophomore
Annika Hedlund had a goal and two assists.
Defensively, senior
Lindsay Gess finished with three caused turnovers, four ground balls, and a goal while sophomores
Mary Neil Hodl and
Casey Glick each had two caused turnovers. Senior
Ashley Dill had a goal and five ground balls while junior
Rachel Windmueller had four ground balls while sophomore
Daly Colarossi had three.
Junior
Katherine Tooley got the win in goals with three saves while freshmen
Lauren Lazure and
Mallika Rao each saw time with Lazure picking up three saves in the contest.
Rhodes moves into conference play this weekend as they welcome in Birmingham-Southern for a SAA matchup at Mason Field on Saturday at 1 PM.
