MEMPHIS - The Rhodes College women's lacrosse team out scored the Redlands Bulldogs 7-3 in the second half to pull away for a 13-8 win on Sunday afternoon at Mason Field.
The Lynx out shot Redlands 37-22 while forcing 15 turnovers and picking up 21 ground balls.
Despite goals from juniors
Maggie Rippeto and
Erin Gleeson, the Redlands took a 3-2 lead throughout the first 10 minutes of the game. Freshman Kaeley Bennet and junior
Kendall Cunningham scored back-to-back goals to give Rhodes a 4-3 lead.
The two teams exchanged goals in the final 15 minutes with Cunningham scoring two more times to give Rhodes a 6-5 lead at the break.
The Bulldogs tied the game to open the second half, but it was all Lynx from there as Cunningham added three more goals in the half while Rippeto and sophomore
Annika Hedlund each scored twice as Rhodes pulled away for the five goal win.
Cunningham ran her goal tally to six to go with an assist while Rippeto finished with three goals and two assists. Senior Lindsey Gess had two assists while juniors
Ashley Doyle and
Olivia Holmes each had one.
Cunningham also finished with four ground balls while Hedlund and Doyle each had three. Gess and junior
Rachel Windmueller each had two caused turnovers while Doyle had three draw controls. Junior
Katherine Tooley finished with eight saves to earn the win.
Rhodes is now 6-0 on the season and return to action tomorrow afternoon as they welcome in Hanover for a 3 PM matchup at Mason Field.
