MEMPHIS - The Rhodes College men's tennis team won their sixth straight match to stay unbeaten on the year at 6-0, defeating the Covenant Scot, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon at the Dunavant Tennis Courts.
The Lynx picked up the doubles point after freshmen
P.J. Shaw and
Phil Lauture picked up an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles while senior
Albert Vacheron and freshman
Ritwik Chatterjee were victorious 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
Leading 2-1, Rhodes went to work in singles competition as Lauture was dominant at No. 5 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore
Sean Hogan won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 singles while Chatterjee had a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles.
Freshman
Andrew Morton picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles while junior
Wesley Tolsdorf won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6 singles. Vacheron played a terrific match at No. 1 singles, but fell just short 2-6, 6-2, 11-13.
Rhodes will be back in action tomorrow morning as they open up Southern Athletic Association play with a 9 AM home matchup against Hendrix College.
