Rebounding hinders Lynx at Austin

Austin, Texas - Rhodes women's basketball fell to Austin College Saturday afternoon 81-57 in their first of two games in Texas. The Lynx will next take on the University of Dallas at 3 p.m. Sunday. 

Austin College held Rhodes to just six points in the first quarter, on the hosts' way to 39-23 halftime advantage. The 'Roos continued to advance their lead, with a six-point second half advantage over the Lynx. 

Austin secured a 46-31 rebounding advantage in the game and shot 52.4% in the field. The Lynx mustered 35.8% accuracy and made just two three-pointers on 18 attempts. 

Four of Rhodes' starters were in double digits, led by Lindsey Whiteside with 13 points, six rebounds and six assists, going four-of-eight on the day. Also scoring 13 points and tallying six rebounds was Jessie Ustick. Allie Young totaled 12 points for the Lynx while Alyssa Owens netted 10 points and also totaled six rebounds. 

For the game, Ann Savage of Austin led all players with 16 points, draining four of her five trey attempts. 

After Sunday, Rhodes will not play again until they host University of the Ozarks on Dec. 30th at 1 p.m.
