Hoyt leads offensive attack over Oglethorpe

Memphis - Rhodes junior Aly Hoyt was on absolute fire this weekend. In Sunday's 4-1 win over Oglethorpe, Hoyt tallied two goals and two assists, playing a foot in each of Rhodes' goals.

Rhodes took a 1-0 lead in the first half and Hoyt netted the first two goals of the game before Oglethorpe cut the Lynx lead to one in the 66th minute. Hoyt's corner kick met with senior defensive player Carly Cone for a header just a minute later to extend the lead on a hot and muggy afternoon. Gabbi Serrato netted the final goal of the game from Hoyt's pass in the 73rd minute to finish the day's scoring. Sara Scherer and Rachel Giampapa each assisted Hoyt's first two goals.

Rhodes recorded 32 shots on the day while Oglethorpe's lone goal came on six shots. Lindsey Bolas was busy in goal for the Stormy Petrels, recording 14 saves. The Lynx also held a 7-1 corner kick advantage.

The win keeps the Lynx in the top four of the conference with their 3-1 record. Rhodes is tied with Sewanee in the standings as Birmingham-Southern and Centre are currently 3-0 in SAA play. The Lynx travel to Centre on Friday and Sewanee on Sunday for two crucial matchups as the regular season begins to come to a close.
