CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The Rhodes College men's soccer team could not overcome a three goal half by the University of Dallas as they fell 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at Hurie Soccer Field on the campus of the University of the Ozarks.
The Lynx fall to 0-2-0 while the Crusaders go to 3-0-0. Dallas had a 13-7 advantage in shots, including a 9-2 advantage in the second half, and 9-4 when it came to shots on goal. Dallas also owned an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Rhodes helped get the Crusaders on the board as an own goal gave Dallas a 1-0 lead in the 30th minutes. Dallas extended that lead to 2-0 in the 65th minutes on a goal from Barton Holdridge.
The Lynx looked to make a run as junior
Mark Robinson found freshman
Will Lawler on a throw-in to make it a 2-1 game in the 74th minute. However, goals in the 76th and 89th minute by Dallas would help them pull away for the dominant win.
Sophomore
Patrick Wilkerson got the start in goal, finishing with five saves on the afternoon. The Lynx got shots on taget from Robinson, junior
Richard Lucarelli, sophomore
Brenden Huie.
The Lynx will look to rebound after a tough weekend as they will prepare for their home opener this weekend at the Volgas Memorial Tournament at the Rhodes Soccer Complex. Hendrix will take on Westminster earlier in the day on Saturday while the Lynx will take on Webster at 2 PM.
