CONWAY, Ark. - In a matchup against defending SAA Champion and 20th-ranked Hendrix College, the Rhodes College volleyball team could not build much off of a strong first set, eventually falling to the Warriors, 25-23, 25-17, 25-14.
Rhodes struggled offensively, finishing with 24 errors to only 29 kills for a .049 hitting percentage. They especially struggled in the third set, hitting -.028. Hendrix, meanwhile, was terrific, finishing with 37 kills and only nine errors for a .295 hitting percentage.
In the first set, Rhodes came out and went toe-to-toe with the Warriors, taking a 19-17 lead late in the first set. However, a four point rally as well as winning eight of the final nine points, gave Hendrix the set and all the momentum going into the second set.
From there, it was all Warriors as they seemed to get stronger as the match progressed, getting by the Lynx to sweep and give Rhodes their first Southern Athletic Association loss of the season.
Sophomore
Lulu Schulz continues her outstanding play, finishing with eight kills, four aces, and two blocks while freshman
Heather Antrim added seven kills and sophomore
Katherine Bolyard had six. Freshman Lindsay Blasius had 11 assists while senior
Catherine Grimes had nine digs.
Rhodes will continued SAA play this weekend at home as they welcome the Berry Viking to Mallory Gymnasium for a 2 p.m. tip off on Saturday.
