Lynx Field Hockey Earns Third Win with Road Shutout of McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Mo. - The Rhodes Colelge field hockey team moved to 3-0 on Saturday afternoon as they defeated the McDaniel Green Terror at Gill Field to move to 3-0 overall on the young 2016 season.

In a defensive battle, the Lynx made the most of the shots they took, out shooting the Green Terror 8-3, while also holding an 11-9 advantage in penalty corners. Rhodes was especially strong in the second half, out shooting the Green Terror 5-1.

Sophomore Lizzie Wood scored the first goal of the game 19 minutes into the first half for the early lead. Just under a minute before half, sophomore Jillian Christensen gave Rhodes a 2-0 lead and all of the momentum at the break.

Seven minutes into the second half, senior Kennedy Brislin came up with her first goal of the season on a penalty stroke to extend the Lynx to 3-0. 

From there, the Rhodes defense was dominant, getting outstanding play from the likes of .....

Junior goalkeeper, and reigning SAA Defensive Player of the Week, Laura Eckelkamp earned her third win of the season, finishing with two saves, while freshman Nina Migneco played the final 17 minutes, finishing with one save in the contest.

The Lynx will have a tough test tomorrow as they will be in Washington, D.C. for a matchup against a Top 20 team in No. 19 Catholic. The match is scheduled to start at 12 PM ET.
