MEMPHIS - Both the Rhodes College men's and women's track and field teams finished in first place in their final home meet of the 2015-16 season, the Rhodes College 6-Way, on Saturday afternoon at Crain Field.
For the women, Rhodes finished with 197 points followed by Mississippi College with 153, Belhaven with 70, Millsaps with 52, Christian Brothers with 33, and William Carey with 12.
In distance, sophomore
Abby Watkins was phenomenal in her events, winning the 1500 with a time of 4:53.04 and also winning the 800 meter with a time of 2:21.32. She also was the anchor leg for the 4x400 team, catching the leader from Belhaven and giving the team a victory with a total time of 4:06.57.
Sophomore
Emma ZeeAbrahamsen placed second in the 1500 with a time of 5:05.98 while sophomore
Laurel Sharp placed sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:32.51. Freshman
Megan Jackson placed second in the 5000 meter with a time of 19:12.77.
In sprints, junior
Kendall Reed won the 400m with a time of 1:00.09 while Lobelson placed fifth with a time of 1:03.04. Sophomore
Alice Fugate took a second place finish in the 100m with a time of 12.77 while Reed and sophomore Bri Hardemann placed fifth and sixth in the 200m with times of 27.04 and 27.10.
Senior
Elyssa Geer placed second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.73 followed by sophomore
Ellery Hayden with a time of 18.38. Hayden would go on to finish second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:10.49 while Sharp finished third with at ime of 1:11.32.
In field events, junior
Kira Curry won the discus with a throw of 36.98m while junior
Riley McCormick placed third with a throw of 31.39m. Curry then went on to win the shot put with a throw of 12.25m as McCormick placed third at 10.63m.
McCormick picked up a victory in the hammer throw at 41.49m while Curry placed third at 38.09m. Senior
Haley Pryor finished second with a throw of 39.66m. Pryor also won the pole vault at 3.46m with junior
Kayla Shorten placing second at 2.59m.
On the men's side, Rhodes led the way with 146 points followed by MIssissippi College with 134 points. Belhaven placed third with 105 followed by Christian Brothers with 52, Millsaps with 48, and William Carey with 24.
In field events, sophomore
Renn Eason won the high jump at 2.00m while placing second in the triple jump at 13.70m. Junior
Jay Baker placed third at 1.85m followed by senior
John Alar at 1.80m. Senior
Andrew Kadesky was victorious in the pole vault at 3.96m followed by sophomore
Peter Daniels at 3.35m.
Sophomore
Tej Suber won the shot put with a throw of 14.14m, finished second in the hammer throw at 43.02m, and finished third in the discus with a throw of 38.18m. Daniels finished fourth in the javelin at 38.90m.
On the track, freshman
Dominic Voehler won the 3000m steeplechase with an impressive time of 9:50.32. The duo of freshman
Alex McTaggart and sophomore
Kelly McGee placed second and third in the 800m with times of 2:00.19 and 2:01.79.
In the 400m, freshman
Will Raines placed second in the 400m with at ime of 51.43. The 4x400 team featuring Raines, McGee, McTaggert, and Baker placed second with a time of 3:33.25. Freshman
Calum Wright placed second while junior
Cole Thornton was third in the 400m hurdles.
Junior
Nathaniel Plemons placed third im the 100m with a time of 11.59 and then placed seventh in the 200m with a time of 23.67.
The Lynx will return to action next weekend as they head to Conway, Ark. for the University of Central Arkansas Open in their final tune up before the SAA Championships on April 22nd.
