MEMPHIS – Despite 11 hits, the Rhodes College baseball team could not avoid the sweep from Birmingham-Southern as they fell 12-4 on Sunday afternoon at Stauffer Field.
Despite the Panther's quick run in the first inning, the Lynx fought back hard with 3 runs of their own in the second inning. With senior
Marcus Moreland's double down left center field, sophomore
Levi Greenberg scored. Freshmen
Chris Winter followed with a back-to-back double which drove home Moreland. Winter scored on sophomore
Zac Lange's bunt which resulted in an error by the Panthers, giving the Lynx a 3-1 lead.
The Panther's scored 7 runs over the next four innings putting them up 8-3 before the Lynx scored a run off a walk with bases loaded. The game ended with the Panthers scoring 4 runs in the top of the 9th inning giving them the lead at 12-4.
Freshmen
Cameron Tinker started on the mound for the Lynx and pitched 3 innings, giving up 6 hits and 4 runs as well as 1 strikeout. He is now 2-4 on the season.
The Lynx performed decently offensively, earning 11 hits in the game.

Rhodes falls to 16-16 on the season and will face the Hawks from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, ALA on the on April 5th at 2pm.
