Levi Greenberg all had three hits each as the Rhodes College baseball team defeated UMass Boston in Florida on Friday afternoon.
The Lynx immediately took a 1-0 lead as junior
Bill Munson led the game off with a solo homerun. It is his fourth straight game with a homerun and his fifth on the season. The Beacons got one back in the third to tie things up.
Rhodes exploded for four runs in the fourth as Notestine and Lange each drove in runs while errors by UMass Boston pushed two more across to put the Lynx up 5-1. Greenberg would steal third in the fifth inning and advance home on a throwing error while freshman
Will Hunt and Notestine drove in a run each in the seventh as Rhodes went ahead 8-1.
Munson, Lange, and Olive added more runs in the ninth as the combination of Putnam and freshman
Nick Bosma put the game away for the 11-3 win.
Putnam (1-2) pitched 6.0 innings, allowing one run on four hits to go with three strikeouts and only one walk, his best outing of 2016 thus far. Bosma (S, 1) would earn a three-inning save as he struck two out despite allowing two runs on six hits.
Notestine finished 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored while Lange was 3-for-5 with two RBI. Greenberg added a 3-for-5 day with a RBI and two runs scored while Munson drove in two and scored once. Senior
Marcus Moreland also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored.
