Lynx Men's Lax Continue Hot Start with Dominant Win Over Dallas

IRVING, Texas - The Rhodes College men's lacrosse team continued its impressive start to the 2016 season, going on the road and rolling over the University of Dallas, 20-2, on Saturday afternoon.

Rhodes moves to 2-0 on the season and has outscored their first two opponents 31-5. The Lynx outshot the Crusaders 60-15 including 42 shots on target. The Lynx turned Dallas over 20 times and held them to 10-for-23 in clears. Meanwhile, Rhodes went 17-for-18 in clears and won 18 of 26 faceoffs.

Senior Jason Lee opened the scoring up three minutes into the contest while sophomore Ryan Fennelly followed Lee up nine seconds later to make it 2-0. Lee would score again three minutes later followed by a goal with a man up from freshman John Tooher.

Dallas would get on the board to make it 4-1, but Rhodes responded with back-to-back goals from Tooher and sophomore Austin Bridgforth and would lead 6-2 at the end of one.

Fennelly and Tooher each scored twice in the second quarter while senior Cooper Robinson and junior Matt Jones each added a goal in the quarter to give the Lynx a 12-2 advantage at the half.

Rhodes did not slow down from there as freshman Tyler Milwit, senior Matt Vavrek, senior Andrew Salamunovich, and Bridgforth each scored a goal in the third while the defense continued to shut down the Dallas attack.

Sophomore Tommy Reingruber added a pair of goals in the fourth while Milwit and freshman Noah Coomer score a goal a piece as Rhodes closed the game with 14 consecutive goals for the 20-2 win.

Tooher led the way with four goals while Fennelly added three and two assists. Lee had two goals and an assist while Vavrek added two assists to his lone goal. Senior Tat Whitley led the way with four ground balls and was 12-for-19 in faceoffs while Jones went 6-for-7 in faceoffs. In a strong defensive effort, Reingruber led the way with two caused turnovers on the afternoon.

The Lynx will be right back on the road next weekend, heading north to Greencastle, Ind. for a 12 PM matchup against DePauw University.
