RICHARDSON, Texas - The Rhodes College men's basketball erased an early 16 point first half deficit and took a one point lead into the break. However, the Texas-Dallas Comets walked away with a back-and-forth 115-111 win on Saturday afternoon.
Rhodes shot 37 of 80 from the field (46%) and connected on 16 3-pointers as they shot 33% from deep. However, Texas-Dallas got to the free throw line 58 times to Rhodes' 32 and were out rebounded 44-32 despite forcing 30 turnovers. The Comets shot 58% from the field and an impressive 46 of 58 from the charity stripe.
Texas-Dallas rolled early on as they took a 32-16 lead midway through the first half. With the Comets leading 41-27, Rhodes went on an impressive 12-1 run to move within three as the Lynx began to heat up from behind the arch.

Brennan Sullivan caught fire as he connected on four 3-pointers for 16 first half points while junior
Anesu Nyawata added 11. Freshman
Owen Galvin also hit three 3-pointers for nine points in the half.
Sullivan and Nyawata continued to cut away at the deficit while Galvin connected on a 3-pointer with 17 seconds remaining in the half as Rhodes took a 56-55 lead into the break. It was the Lynx first lead since 4-3 with 18:51 to play in the first half.

Jake Nestlehutt added a pair of 3's as Rhodes took a 82-76 lead with under 11 to go.
Rhodes tried to hang on to the lead but Texas-Dallas climbed back into it to tie it and the final seven minutes turned into a back-and-forth contest with neither team taking a lead larger than three.
A 3-pointer from McIntyre tied the game at 111, but the Comets got to the free throw line four times in the final minute while Rhodes could not score a point as Texas-Dallas pulled out the 115-111.
Sullivan led the way with 21 points while Berry added 16. Nyawata scored 13 and sophomore
Daniel Darst and Galvin each had nine points. Darst had a pair of steals while freshman
Preston Giroux had five rebounds to lead the team. Nyawata and senior
J.J. Weir each had five assists in the game while freshman
Mitch Weatherford had four.
Rhodes moves to 4-6 on the year and will return to action on Monday as they will play their first game in 2017 in Irving, Texas against the University of Dallas at 2 p.m.
