IRVING, Texas - The Rhodes College men's basketball team erased a 25 point halftime deficit in the second half and even took a one point lead late in the second half. However, despite a season high 127 points, the Lynx fell to Dallas on Monday afternoon, 136-127.
The Lynx shot 45 of 86 from the field (52%) and 19 of 41 from behind the arch (46%) while going 18 of 22 from the charity stripe (82). Meanwhile, the Crusaders went 54 of 79 from the field (68%) without take a 3-pointer. They also went 28 of 31 from the free throw line (90%). The Lynx and Crusaders were even in turnovers at 29 while Rhodes was out rebounded 42-24.

Brennan Sullivan and freshman
Bryce Berry as well as a bucket from senior
Tyler Gee. After Dallas tied the game at 10, the Lynx got a 3-pointer from senior
Andrew Lowrie and a layup from senior
J.J. Weir.
With the game tied at 21, Dallas began to take control of the first half as they opened a 33-23 lead thanks to a 10-2 run. Rhodes got it back down to seven at 41-34, but another big 10-2 run from the Crusaders put them up by 15. Dallas was able to increase their lead and take a 71-51 lead at the break.
In the second half, Dallas increased the lead to 25 early in the second half and looked as though they would cruise to an easy home victory.
However, Rhodes was not done by a long shot as they began to make a run with under 12 to go. The Lynx caught fire as they hit seven 3-pointers as sophomore
Daniel Darst hit two, junior
Anesu Nyawata hit two, and freshmen Nick de Feria,
Mitch Weatherford, and
Jake Nestlehutt all hit one to make it a nine point game.
Dallas was able to push it out to 12 points midway through the half. Another big run from the Lynx behind Nyawata, Weatherford, and freshman
Preston Giroux made it a two point game and eventually took the lead at 107-106 after two free throws from junior
Price Dalton.
The Crusaders were able to take the lead back and did not look back as they out scored the Lynx by 10 in the final five minutes to take a 136-127.
Nyawata scored 23 points on 9 of 14 shooting to go with five assists and two steals while Sullivan scored 18. Gee had 15 points to go with six boards and five steals while Giroux and Darst each scored 10 points. Sophomore
Will McIntyre scored nine points on three 3-pointers.
For Dallas, Tom Kaiser scored 45 points to go with 11 rebounds and three blocks while Darrius Colvin had 20 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists.Â
Rhodes moves to 4-7 overall and had now lost five games in the row. The Lynx will now move into SAA play where they are currently 1-0. They will take on defending champion Birmingham-Southern on Friday at 8 PM at Mallory Gymnasium.
