MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The Rhodes College women's basketball team was out scored 14-5 in the third quarter as the Maryville Scots were victorious on their home floor, defeating the Lynx 63-47.
Rhodes had a tough day shooting on the afternoon, going 19 of 66 from the field (29%) and only 2 of 19 (11%) from behind the arch. Rhodes was able to force 18 turnovers, but the Scots shot 46% from the field and connected on nine 3-pointers.

Blaire Smith got Rhodes off to a good start, connecting on the Lynx first two buckets while juniors
Erin Deery and
Jessie Ustick scored to make it a tie game at eight. However, Maryville went on a 9-0 run to take a 17-8 lead and take a 19-11 lead into the second quarter.
The Scots pushed the lead out to 10 to start the second, but back-to-back buckets from Deery and Ustick cut it back down to six. However, Maryville took control of the quarter and took a 35-24 into the break.
Maryville took control of the contest in the third quarter, out scoring the Lynx 14-5, going on a 12-1 run to close the quarter and take a 20 point lead into the final quarter of play. Rhodes would out score the Scots 18-14 in the final 10, but the Lynx would fall.
Ustick led all scorers with 14 points to go with eight rebounds and two steals while Deery had nine points and seven rebounds. Senior
Bailey Kramer pulled down seven boards to go with two blocks while freshman
Ashley Foret had a career-high four steals.
Rhodes moves to 1-10 overall and closes a three game road trip over the last three days. The Lynx return home on Monday, January 2nd as they open up the new year with a 2 PM tip off against Emory.
