Lynx Edged Out on the Road by Oglethorpe in Conference Battle

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Rhodes College men's soccer team dropped a close contest on the road to last year's SAA Regular Season Champion, Oglethorpe, on Friday evening as Oglethorpe Field.

The loss drops Rhodes to 4-6-1 overall and 1-2 in the SAA while Oglethorpe moves to 3-4-2 and 3-0 in conference play.

Oglethorpe won the shots battle, out shooting the Lynx 14-11 including an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks. The Stormy Petrels also had a slight 4-3 advantage in corner kicks on the evening.

Oglethorpe got on the board first with a goal in the 15th minute as Jordan Locker found the back of the net off of a long free kick. Rhodes would respond in the 32nd minute as junior Mark Robinson sent a throw in to the far post, finding freshman Nick Isolani to even the score going into the break.

In the second half, the Stormy Petrels made it a 2-1 game in the 48th minute as Devon Patterson scored on a cross. Five minutes later, Rhodes made it 2-2 as Robinson scored his sixth goal of the season.

With the score even, both teams were looking for opportunities to take the lead late in the game and preserve a win. However, the Stormy Petrels would break through in the 78th minute as Hudson Fennell went on a long breakaway to score the game winning goal late in the half and give the Lynx a tough loss.

Robinson finished with a goal and an assist on the evening while Isolani had the lone goal. Sophomore Austin Ly added three shots on the night while Robinson had two. Six different Lynx were able to get one shot off. Sophomore Patrick Wilkerson started in goal and finished with five saves.

Rhodes will return to action on Sunday as they will travel to Mount Berry for a 1 PM ET kickoff with Berry College.
