MEMPHIS - Behind five first half goals in the first half, the No. 2 seed Rhodes College women's soccer team knocked off the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels on Saturday afternoon to advance to the SAA Semifinals.
Rhodes moves to 10-3-1 on the year and will battle No. 3 Sewanee on Friday.
The Lynx out shot the Stormy Petrels to the tune of 20-3 including an 11-3 advantage in the second half. Rhodes took 16 shots in the first half alone as they built their gaudy lead. There was only one corner kick on the day, coming from Rhodes.
Rhodes took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute as junior

Sydnie Schindler made it two in the 20th minute as the Lynx looked in control.
Rhodes would score a pair of goals in one minutes as Hoyt netted her second and sophomore
Merrill Stovroff picked up a goal. Freshman
Jenny Neil made it five on an assist from junior
Rachel Coyle as the Lynx took a 5-0 lead into the break.
From there, Rhodes played possession ball in the second half, playing numerous players and getting out with a win before their big matchup next weekend with their biggest rivals.
The attack was terrific for Rhodes as senior

Elise Grisoni, Selner, and Schindler were excellent with Neil, Coyle, and Stovroff adding quality minutes off the bench.

Sarah Wachter, were dominant all game. Junior
Anna Maldonado earned another save in goal, picking up two saves in the game.
Rhodes will head to the No. 1 seed, Centre, for their matchup with Sewanee with a birth in the SAA Championship at stake. The Lynx defeated the Tigers last season in the semifinals via penalty kicks and beat them earlier in the year in Memphis by the score of 4-0.
