CONWAY, Ark. - The Rhodes College women's soccer team scored a pair of first half goals and used great defense in the second half to defeat the Hendrix Warriors in the regular season finale and clinch the No. 2 seed at next week's SAA Championship.
Rhodes will welcome in Oglethorpe next weekend at the Rhodes Soccer Field during Homecoming weekend. The Lynx and Stormy Petrels are scheduled for a 3 PM kickoff tentatively.
The Lynx out shot the Warriors 15-8 including a including a 10-2 advantage in shots on target. Rhodes and Hendrix were even in corner kicks on the night at four a piece.
Rhodes got on the board in the 17th minute as junior
Emma Selner found sophomore
Sydnie Schindler streaking down the field. Schindler got a one on one opportunity against the goalkeeper and beat her to put the Lynx ahead 1-0.
Later in the half, Selner earned her second assist of the game as senior
Angie Hurlow scored off a rebound to make it 2-0 and temper the rowdy crowd in Conway as they celebrated their Senior Day.
Despite Rhodes scoring two goals, the two teams were rather even in the first half, each getting five shots. It would be a different story in the second half as Rhodes out shot their opponents 10-3.
The Lynx did not score a goal in the second half, but controlled the tempo as they kept possession for most of the half. The defense led by senior

Carly Cone was terrific again while junior
Anna Maldonado earned her eighth shutout of the season and fifth in conference play.
Selner, Schindler, and senior
Nicolette Glidden led the Rhodes offense on the evening as they were crucial in the attack.
Rhodes finishes the regular season and 9-3-1 and 4-1-1 in the SAA.
The Lynx will prepare for a busy and exciting Homecoming Weekend. With the men's win, five Lynx athletic teams will be home and set to compete during Homecoming.
