DANVILLE, Ky. - The Rhodes College men's basketball team shot a season-low 13-for-51 (25.5%) from the field and 3-of-19 (15.8%) from three as cold shooting downed the Lynx at Centre College, 56-33.
Rhodes struggled all night as they were outrebounded, 39-32, and also lost the turnover battle, 13-8. Centre shot 47.8% from the field, doing their damage in the paint as they held 34-6 advantage. The Colonels also got 24 points in the bench while Rhodes could only muster eight points.
In the first half, the two teams were deadlocked at 13 at the midway point. The Colonels would close the half on a 17-2 run, dominating in all facets to take a 30-15 lead at the break. Things did not improve in the second half as Rhodes was only able to score 18 points as Centre ran away with the contest.
Junior
Brennan Sullivan led the way with nine points on the evening while junior
Tyler Gee added seven points and nine boards. Sophomore
Keyshawn Butts had five points while junior
Daniel Galvin and freshman
Daniel Darst each had four points. Junior
JJ Weir picked up three steals while Butts added two.
For Centre, Blake Scinta led the attack with 17 points while Tyler Wesley pulled down an impressive 17 rebounds.
Rhodes moves to 7-6 overall and 1-1 in Southern Athletic Association play. They return to action on Sunday as they take on heated rival, Sewanee, on the road. Tipoff is set for 3 PM ET.
