RESULTS
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Competing in the Emory University Crossplex Invitational in Birmingham and among many Division I, II and III colleges and universities, the Rhodes College men's track and field team placed sixth in the collegiate division with 49 points while the women finished fourth with 50 points.
Sophomore
Renn Eason broke his own school record in the high jump with a leap of 2.11 meters (6'11"). Earlier this year, Eason tied the previous school record 6' 10.75" set by Tim Barkley in 1998. Eason mark ranks him first nationally among NCAA Division III schools. Eason's teammate, junior
Jay Baker, placed fifth overall in the high jump, with a leap of 1.90m (6'2' 3/4).
The men's distance medley relay team of seniors
Matt Dsida,
Jeremy Phillips,
Connor Fagan, and
Alex Noel also established a new school record with a time of 10:21.95. The previous record 10:23.68 was set in 2012.
Noel and Dsida also had terrific runs in the one mile with Noel placing seventh with a time of 4:24.11 and Dsida finishing eighth with a time of 4:25.29. Meanwhile, Phillips was terrific in the sprints, finishing second in the 60m with a time of 6.94 and second in the 200m dash with a time of 21.82 which currently leads Division III.
Sophomore
Tej Suber had an outstanding day in throws, placing second in the shot put with a throw of 13.67m (44'10") and 11th in the weight throw at 12.90m (42'4").
On the women's side, the trio of sophomores
Reagan Alley,
Ellery Hayden, and
Emma ZeeAbrahamsen placed second, third, and fourth in the 5000m. Alley finished with a time of 19:03.10, Hayden a time of 19:33.23, and ZeeAbrahamsen with a time of 19:33.41.
Sophomores
Brianna Hardeman and
Alice Fugate had an outstanding day in sprints. Hardeman finished with a time of 8.09 in the 60m and 26.07 in the 200m while Fugate finished with times of 8.25 in the 60m and 26.93 in the 200m.
In field events, senior
Haley Pryor finished second in the pole vault at 3.25m (10'8"). Junior
Kira Curry led the throws, finishing third in the shot put at 11.24m (36'10" 1/2) eighth in the weight toss at 13.18m (43'3").
Both teams will take a couple of weeks off and be back in action on February 13th as they head to Greencastle, Ind. for the DePauw Indoor Invitational.
